Real Characters

A humor series featuring New York's best storytellers, humor writers, memoirists and comedians

About

REAL CHARACTERS is a monthly storytelling/reading series that combines some of New York’s best storytellers, humor writers, stand-ups, memoirists, and character performers. Some of it’s true; some of it feels more than true; and, most of it is mostly funny.

Past performers have appeared on The Moth Mainstage, This American Life, 30 Rock, and Saturday Night Live. Past writers have contributed to The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, The Onion, The Simpsons, and The Colbert Report.

Created in 2010, REAL CHARACTERS began in the basement of a comedy club and moved to the back of a French restaurant. It now has a permanent home at McNally Jackson Books in SoHo where it can be seen every second Wednesday of the month at 7pm.

Hosted and curated by Andy Ross. Produced by Ann Marie Lonsdale.
